Welcome.

Hi, I’m Shelly.

I've always been fascinated by the invisible relationship between people, places and technology.

I’m a founder, designer and former perinatal and infant mental health nurse consultant.

Most of my work lives somewhere between psychology, hospitality, design, technology and the deeply human experience of building something from scratch.

Everything I create begins with the same curiosity:

How can we design environments, experiences and technology that help people feel more connected, more understood and more human?

That question has taken me through several careers, more than one reinvention and, somewhat unexpectedly, into the world of technology start-ups in my later 40s.

Here you’ll find what I’m building, what I’m designing and how I can support you if you’re building something too.

Your business is ready to be seen. Now it’s your turn.

Becoming Visible is a six-week private mentoring experience for early-stage women founders who are ready to move through self-doubt, become more visible and start selling their tech product or service with greater confidence.

Without becoming louder, pushier or less like themselves.

Because the part nobody really warns you about is what happens after you’ve had the idea, researched the market, built the product and worked out who it’s for.

Eventually, you have to put your work, your company and yourself into the world.

That’s when the capable, intelligent woman who built the whole bloody thing can suddenly want to hide behind it.

I call this the shrink before the bloom.

Together, we’ll work on the woman behind the business as well as the practical actions that will move it forward. Your message, your visibility, your sales conversations, your self-trust and the things you know you need to do but keep quietly moving to next week.

You don’t need to become a completely different person.

You need support becoming more comfortable standing behind what you’ve already created.

RevenRoo is a human-centred hospitality technology platform helping hotels make their experiences easier for guests to discover, understand and book.

The opportunity isn’t always to create more.

Sometimes it’s simply to help guests see what is already there.

What I’m writing

The Spaces Between

Essays about the environments shaping us.

The Spaces Between is where I explore how our physical, emotional, digital and informational environments quietly influence what we notice, how we feel and what we choose.

It brings together psychology, hospitality, design, technology, travel and the occasional thought that follows me home from a hotel lobby and refuses to leave.

Psychology • Hospitality • Design • Technology • Travel

The person behind all of this

My career has moved through perinatal and infant mental health, interior design, wellness, hospitality and now technology.

It looks slightly random on paper. Possibly because it is.

But the thread running through all of it has always been people.

What helps us feel safe, connected and understood? What shapes our behaviour without us consciously noticing? What makes an experience feel clear, thoughtful and deeply human?

My work in perinatal and infant mental health taught me to understand emotion, identity, vulnerability and the enormous internal shifts that can accompany a new chapter of life.

Interior design taught me that environments are never simply backgrounds. They influence how we feel and what we believe is possible within them.

Hospitality showed me how those ideas can become experiences people remember.

Technology has given me a way to bring those worlds together and explore what might be possible at scale.

Now, as a non-technical female founder building my first hospitality technology company in my later 40s, I’m also learning what it takes to become the person capable of carrying an ambitious idea into the world.

Some days that feels incredibly exciting.

Other days my confidence has a little lie-down and leaves me to handle things alone.

Both, I’m discovering, are part of building.

Advisory and collaboration

Alongside Becoming Visible, I support founders and teams creating products, brands and experiences centred around real human needs.

I’m particularly good at seeing a business through the eyes of the person experiencing it. Where trust may be lost, where something feels confusing or emotionally disconnected, and how the overall experience could become clearer, warmer and more memorable.

I can bring a clinically informed, trauma-aware perspective to technology and services involving women, mothers, babies, families, mental health and wellbeing.

I also support thoughtful work across:

  • human-centred product and experience design;

  • founder and brand storytelling;

  • customer experience and emotional trust;

  • creative direction;

  • hospitality, wellness and women’s technology;

  • and turning a big, slightly tangled idea into something people can quickly understand and connect with.

Mostly, I bring curiosity, emotional intelligence, thoughtful feedback and a genuine willingness to share what I know.

Let's continue the conversation.

Whether you’re here because of an essay, a hotel, an idea you’re building or simple curiosity, I’m always interested in thoughtful conversations.

And if you’re currently in that slightly uncomfortable space between building something and becoming brave enough to show people, I understand it more than you might realise.

I’m so glad our paths crossed.

Come and say hello :)
